County of Marin Board of Supervisors are available:
Technical Information
In order to listen to audio from this site, you must have a
computer with a sound board, speakers, and an internet connection. In order to listen to the LIVE audio, you must
also have RealOne player software installed on your computer and configured to
work with your browser. You can download the free RealOne player from
www.Real.Com.
(The free download is a link from the top right of the first screen,
and then near the bottom left of the next screen.) The recorded audio is available in
MP3 format, which can also be played by the RealOne player and a variety of other free
audio software.
To begin receiving the audio stream, click on the words
"Play audio of meeting in progress" above. This link will not work unless
the board is actually meeting. If the link is not working, and you believe the
meeting is in progress, you may open your RealOne player and under the file menu select
"open location..." and enter the address:
RTSP://ra.marin.org/broadcast/live.rm
During scheduled meeting times when the Supervisors are not in session there
may be breaks in availability of the live broadcast. All live broadcasts are
recorded and are available here
for playback. The archive sound file should be available within two days of the board meeting.
The County of Marin uses RealAudio technology to convert audio
signals into a computer file that is encoded so that it can be efficiently
transmitted over the Internet, decoded, and played on the user's computer
in real time. This streaming technology allows the user to hear the audio
almost immediately without having to wait for the entire file to download.
The processing, transmission, and storage of the audio files take place
on a server that the county has set up for that purpose.
This server is currently configured to support up to 40 simultaneous internet users.
